NATURAL STONE At Stone Interiors, we are experienced in working with many different types of natural stone and can advise you on the best stone to use for your project. We will listen to your needs, colour preferences and applications and suggest the most appropriate stone for you. Please see the material menu bar on the left for a range of colours and click on the buttons below for the answers to some from frequently asked questions. What is Granite? We take care to select the best material available at any given time. Stone is a natural material and incredible forces are involved in both the creation and the extraction of natural stone from mountain ranges. Some blocks have flaws (cracks, holes, blotches, etc) that might not be visible until they are sliced into slabs. Some marbles are particularly fragile and have a fibre backing to help in transport and some stones are resin-filled to give a smoother surface after polishing reveals surface holes. Also, no two pieces are identical - even if they come from the same block of the same quarry! At Stone Interiors, we are committed to giving you the best service and you are encouraged to be a part of the stone selection process. When choosing a stone with particular swirls, colour variation or directional veining, we recommend that you inspect the stone prior to cutting. We are happy to e-mail you a photo of your slab if needed or give you a sample at the time of ordering or templating. |
